Summary

New methods of determination of shock hardness and shock microhardness for nonferrous metals and their alloys are developed. Bars of nonferrous metals with Brinell hardness in the range of 30 to 3200 MPa are recommended to use as a reference when determining the shock hardness. Cone with a vertex angle α = 90° is utilized as an indenter for determining the shock microhardness.
