Heat resistance of cast nickel-based alloy with vanadium carbide

Summary

The results of the research on ability of the casting wear-resistant nickel-based alloy, hardened with vanadium carbide of eutectic origin, to resist on oxidation in ambient air at a temperature of 1100 °C. It is shown that the investigated alloys is inferior in properties to serial wear-resistant and heat-resistant cobalt-based alloy with a niobium carbide, but far superior to cobalt-based alloy with complicated niobium - titanium carbide and can be recommended for application as a wear-resistant and heat-resistant material to protect against wear of the contacting surfaces of rotor blades of GTE.
