Effect of time of surface heat treatment and structure of powder iron-carbon alloys

Summary

The paper studied the process of electron beam heating sintered iron alloy of powder – carbon system and the effect of holding time on the structure and surface hardness of alloys. It is shown that to increase the surface hardness of iron-powder materials it is necessary to carry out electron beam processing with minimal holding time from 1 – 10 sec. The results obtained can be used to produce economically alloyed constructional iron- carbonalloy powders, which must have a high surface hardness and bulk strength.
